Healthcare systems are critical to providing the healthcare needs of a patient. Applying industrial engineering skills at a healthcare facility leads to patient satisfaction and timely care for the patients. Some of the projects we’ve successfully completed are shown below.

• Simulation (computer) models of a hospital helped to analyze various what-if scenarios before a hospital expansion plan was developed and approved.
• Simulation models of a mass vaccination clinic led to a well designed clinic which aimed at minimizing patient wait times and identifying appropriate resources needed for the clinic.
• Lean and six sigma approaches helped to develop process maps, identify waste, and develop alternative solutions to mitigate waste, and improve the operations.
• Capacity planning – developed models to optimize capacity (doctors, registered nurses, physical and occupational therapists, etc.).

Warehousing & Distribution Logistics

Distribution centers are nerve centers of a supply chain network. Our team of experts has partnered with many distribution centers to improve their inbound, put-away, and outbound operations. A short list of some of the projects successfully completed are shown below.

• Time studies to establish labor standards.
• Heat-maps were designed and developed to demonstrate pick frequencies of each pick face. This was helpful for re-slotting to improve picking.
• Clustering analysis for identifying clusters of SKUs ordered frequently. Clustering also helped to determine optimum pick locations for these SKUs.
• Inventory management – reorder points, reorder quantity, golden zones, etc.
• Pick route optimization.
• Designed and analyzed layer picking lanes.
• Designed and developed assembly and packaging lines for direct shipments to customers.
